Agartala Jul 07: Amidst claims of heightened security and sealed borders, illegal Bangladeshi entrants continue to enter Tripura through various international bordering areas.
In a similar incident eight Bangladeshi were arrested at Agartala railway station as they illegally entered Tripura by Railway police.
Primary interrogation of the detainees revealed that they were heading to national capital Delhi from Tripura.
Speaking to the reporters, a GRP official said, “On the basis of suspicion all eight Bangladeshi nationals were detained from Tripura Sundari Express as they reached Agartala Railway Station”.
“The accused persons could not provide any proper documents or passport and said that they were helped by some person to cross the international border through Sonamura and were on their way to Delhi for work”, he said.
On being asked about increased number of such cases, the official said, “Railway police are on high alert and thorough checkings are conducted at the railway station to prevent such infiltration”.
However, the hike in number of such incidents has raised concerns about the security measures at the borders and the possible influx of illegal immigrants to the state.
