Agartala March 28: Demanding a high-level probe against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and freezing of its bank accounts, Tripura Pradesh Congress on Thursday criticized BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘misuse of power’ and ‘unethical use of government machinery’.
Addressing the reporters from the state Congress headquarters in capital city’s Post Office Chowmani, Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress president Neel Kamal Saha described the electoral bond scheme as ‘the world’s largest extortion racket hatched by the ruling BJP’.
“The electoral bond scheme was devised to legalize bribery. The party that claims itself for providing good governance, zero-tolerance against corruption has ensured it to be the biggest beneficiary of electoral bond”, said Saha.
Demanding a high-level enquiry, Saha said, “There are a huge number of dubious donors. Many companies donated only after raids by ED, IT and CBI. This clearly proves that the BJP pressurized those companies by using the government machinery”.
Apart from this, the Congress also demanded freezing of the BJP bank accounts.
