Agartala June 07: In yet another successful drive, police seized large amount of contraband Yaba tablets worth Rs 20 lakh from Ratanpur village on Tuesday late night.
A drug peddler identified as Samshuddin was also detained by police in Kaliganj area under Karimganj district of Barak Valley district in neighbouring Assam.
Police sources informed that acting on a tip-off Kaliganj police chased a speeding autorickshaw numbered AS 10 A C 9066 and got caught of the same in Ratanpur area. Search of the vehicle recovered narcotic item (Yaba tablets) worth Rs 20 lakhs approx. and also nabbed the owner of the consignment.
“The seized contraband items weigh 1.5 kgs and the autorickshaw and dealer has been detained”, said Assam police official G D Sharma.
The accused was produced before the court seeking police remand on Wednesday.
