Suprme Court Collegium: Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Tuesday (July 11) said that within 72 hours of the recommendation, Supreme Court judges Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and senior advocate Kalpati Venkataraman Vishwanathan The appointment shows that the Collegium is vibrant, active and committed to its work.
At a felicitation function organized by the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), he said that Justices Mishra and Vishwanathan share the views. What CJI Chandrachud said
He said, "Justice Mishra is the first judge to reach the Supreme Court after being promoted from the Chhattisgarh High Court. He represents the aspirations of the relatively new state. He reflects the aspirations of the younger generation of the legal profession who may aspire to follow in his footsteps." Welcoming Justice Mishra, CJI Chandrachud said that it took you a while to come, thank you even if you come, hope did not leave the heart, even if we get scared. Regarding Justice Vishwanathan, the CJI said that he has been a role model and guide for the young members of the Bar. The CJI said that he has contributed in building a team of young lawyers.

On the retirement of Justice JB Pardiwala on August 11, 2030, Justice Vishwanathan will become the Chief Justice of India and will continue in the post till May 25, 2031. Justice Mishra was appointed as a judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court on December 10, 2009. He was appointed as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on October 13, 2021.
