After a long exercise that lasted for 340 days, the opposition unity has finally started taking shape. After a meeting of 26 parties including Congress in Bengaluru, Mallikarjun Kharge said that he has named the alliance. Now this front will be known as Indian National Development Coordination Alliance (INDIA).

Kharge said that the action plan of the alliance will be prepared. We will form a committee of 11 members, which will do the work of coordination. The committee will consist of a chairman, a convenor and 9 members. Significantly, the coalition led by the Congress alliance was earlier known as the United Progressive Front (UPA). This coalition has ruled for 10 years under the leadership of Dr. Manmohan Singh.

According to Kharge, the coordination committee will prepare the strategy of the movement against the government. This committee will also play an important role in ticket distribution. The committee will also be responsible for resolving all disputes.

The exercise of the opposition front against the BJP started on August 1 from the soil of Patna. For the first time on August 31, Nitish Kumar met an outside leader for the alliance. After this Nitish started the mission.

How the script of Opposition Eka was written?
The script of Opposition Ekta was prepared in about 2 phases. Some leaders played a behind the scenes role in preparing it and some came directly in front.

Phase-1: Nitish prepared the basic structure with Lalu
Soon after the presidential election in July 2022, Nitish Kumar announced breaking the alliance with BJP. Nitish Kumar resigned from Patna Raj Bhavan and went directly to Lalu Yadav’s house. There were already RJD, Congress and Male MLAs there.

In this meeting, Nitish talked about removing BJP from power in the whole country and Bihar by creating opposition unity. After the formation of the Grand Alliance government, Nitish Kumar met Lalu Yadav, where the script for creating opposition unity in the country was prepared.

Meanwhile Nitish got a call from Om Prakash Chautala, Sitaram Yechury and K Chandrasekhar Rao.  On August 31, Rao came to Patna and met Nitish Kumar. Rao had already launched a campaign for opposition unity and Nitish had already met several leaders.

But the Congress did not give importance to Nitish’s mission. There were 2 reasons for this. The first Congress elected a new president and the second Nitish had done this experiment in 2015 as well.

However, Sonia Gandhi agreed to meet Lalu Yadav and Nitish Kumar, but no picture of this meeting came in the media, after which the speculation about the flop of this mission started.

Who said ‘I love you’ first but got stuck
Mallikarjun Kharge became the Congress President in October, but this campaign did not gain momentum. After this, in a meeting with Male in February, Nitish Kumar told Salman Khurshid of Congress to take initiative on this from the stage itself.

Khurshid talked about conveying Nitish’s message to the high command. Khurshid also said that he wants to become an opposition front, but the problem is that who should say ‘I love you’ first. However, a few days later, Mallikarjun Kharge sent an invitation to Nitish Kumar for a meeting.

Phase-2: Congress has cut the leaves of 3 parties
According to JDU sources, Nitish Kumar presented the complete blueprint of the alliance in front of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. Congress spoke of contesting elections alone in Telangana, Haryana and Karnataka.

After this stand of Congress, Nitish Kumar K. Kept distance from Chandrasekhar Rao, HD Kumaraswamy and Om Prakash Chautala. The Congress spoke of forging an alliance in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, UP, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand.

After the agreement was made between both the parties, Rahul Gandhi asked Nitish Kumar to move forward. In this meeting, the Congress also talked about ‘renunciation’. After getting assurance from Rahul, Nitish set out on his campaign.

How 26 parties got together, 2 points…
1. Firstly contact was made with like-minded parties in coalition states. Talks were started with those parties which have been in alliance with the Congress in the past. Among these parties like CPM, SP, Trinamool and PDP are prominent.

Nitish Kumar met Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge in May after meeting all the leaders. In this meeting there was talk on the show of strength of opposition unity, after which Nitish Kumar returned to Patna. In June, invitations were sent to 18 parties on behalf of Nitish Kumar and Lalu Yadav.

The argument of the meeting in Patna was given by Mamta Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav. Both the leaders said that the meeting held in Delhi does not reach its mission. Patna is the land of JP movement and the message to save democracy will be given from there.

2. In the Patna meeting it was proposed to hold the next meeting in Shimla, but due to the weather it was shifted to Bengaluru. Before the Bengaluru meeting, Congress added 8 parties to its quota. Most of these parties are from Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Experts say that keeping in view the local politics, Congress has joined these parties together. The Left is in power in Kerala, while the DMK is in Tamil Nadu. Congress is trying to get more seats by joining smaller parties in both the places.

Nitish Agua in the opposition front, what work can be found?
On the advice of Nitish Kumar, the next meeting of the opposition front has been held in Mumbai. There has been turmoil in the politics of Maharashtra since last year. After Shiv Sena, it has recently broken into NCP. Opposition parties are in the process of meeting there to take a psychological edge.

Nitish Kumar’s role is important in connecting parties like SP, Trinamool in the opposition front. It is believed that Nitish Kumar may get the post of coordinator in the opposition front. In Bengaluru, Congress President Kharge said that the name will be decided in the Mumbai meeting.

Means Nitish’s name can now be announced in Mumbai meeting. There was also discussion in the meeting about the post of Prime Minister. According to reports, Nitish Kumar has said to decide it after the elections. Congress has withdrawn its claim for the post of PM.
