The West Bengal State Election Commission (SEC) has ordered re-polling in nearly 700 polling stations in 19 districts of the state amid allegations of damage to ballot boxes and violence that left 15 dead.

Let us tell you that no major untoward incident has been reported so far in the re-polling held on Monday (July 10), but on Sunday (July 09), a person named Abu Salem Khan was found near a polling station in West Gabtla of Kultali police station area. was found dead. Authorities said he had multiple head injuries.

Local people said that Abu Salem Khan was known as a TMC worker in the area. Similarly, on Saturday night, another TMC worker Azhar Lashkar, who was injured during violence in Basanti area of ​​the district, died at Government SSKM Hospital in Kolkata. This was confirmed by the doctors treating Azhar.

TMC worker Motiur Rahman was stabbed outside a polling booth in Malda district’s Baishannagar. The TMC alleged that the incident took place when Congress workers were trying to tamper with the ballot box and it tried to stop them but the Congress denied the allegations. Officials said Rehman died on the way to Malda Medical College Hospital.

12 deaths were reported during the elections 
Twelve deaths were reported till Saturday (July 08) night in the violence that broke out during the voting for the panchayat elections in West Bengal. Which includes eight supporters of the ruling TMC and one each of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and the Congress. However, various political parties have claimed that the death toll in the violence is higher and it is 18.

Many parties claim supporters killed
TMC has said that nine of its workers have been killed, while Congress has said that three of its supporters have been killed. BJP and CPI(M) have claimed that two of their supporters were killed. It is not known which party the two deceased belonged to.

SEC has summoned the detailed details regarding the death from the District Magistrates. An official said, ‘‘We have asked the district magistrates to file reports on the death cases within 24 hours.”
