Agartala Jul 06: Minister of Tribal Welfare, Bikash Debbarma paid a surprise visit to Umakanta Academy Hostel, meant for the Janajati students on Wednesday night. The minister inspected the hostel thoroughly and inquired about the amenities.

Speaking to the reporters, Debbarma said, “The well-being of our students is our prime concern. All must get adequate facilities that would enable them to develop a bright future”.

“One month back, I have visited the hostel and checked upon the situation. There were no lights, fans and also several other problems were there. So, after one month, the purpose of my visit is to check if all these issues were corrected and the students are not having any further problems”, he added.

The minister also said that he has a proper discussion with the students and the complaints have been noted down and those will be solved at the earliest.

Debbarma assured that the quality of facilities and amenities provided to the indigenous inmates will be improved in the future.
