Yasin Malik Case: The country’s two top investigative agencies NIA and CBI are at loggerheads regarding Kashmir’s separatist leader and alleged terrorist Yasin Malik. While the NIA court has asked him to appear in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the murder of two Air Force officers in 1990, the CBI has reached the Supreme Court against this decision. 

Today (July 21) Yasin Malik was brought to the Supreme Court for the hearing of this matter. Where the court has given him the next date. Actually, in the case of the murder of Air Force officers in 1990, the NIA court of Jammu and Kashmir has asked Malik to appear for cross examination. Opposing this, the CBI has reached the Supreme Court. He says that Malik’s appearance in the Jammu and Kashmir court should be through video conferencing. 

There was no need to bring the Supreme Court
Malik wants to represent himself in the Supreme Court against this. The Supreme Court made it clear that no order was given to bring Yasin Malik to the court. Next time, if necessary, he should be allowed to speak through video conferencing from jail itself, as well as he has ordered to refer the matter to another bench.

Who is Yasin Malik? ?
Yasin Malik is a separatist leader who was involved in terrorist activities in Kashmir during the 1990s. Currently,  57-year-old Malik was accused of funding terrorists in 2017. In this connection, the NIA court sentenced him to life imprisonment on May 24, 2022. The JKLF chief is also facing trial in the kidnapping of Rubia Sayeed, daughter of the then Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, in December 1989 and the killing of Indian Air Force officers in January 1990, besides terror funding.

Bring Sean Malik to Supreme Court
