Tripura CM wants to end private tuition for relieving students from extra burden – aabtak24

Agartala, June 23: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday said that the state government would take measures to end private tuition in order to relieve the students of extra burden.

The tradition of private tuition doesn’t exist in any state except Tripura and West Bengal, Dr. Saha said, adding that during his time in Lucknow, he discovered that no such system of private tuition existed there, yet students were still able to achieve good percentages without relying on private tutoring.

In the programme, the Chief Minister also felicitated the toppers from MTB Girls’ HS School in the TBSE-conducted examinations- 2023.

The Chief Minister, who inaugurating nursery classes, a tinkering laboratory and a drinking water facility at MTB Girls’ HS School on Friday, said “It is very unfortunate to see that a section of government teachers is engaging in private tuition in an unregulated manner, creating inconvenience to the guardians who have to wait for hours for their children. Our government will take decisive action to stop such practices”, said Dr Saha.

The Chief Minister also said, the state government would hold discussions with the educationists to explore alternative methods of learning that do not necessitate private tuition which is an additional burden on the students. 

The present situation is causing mental issues for the students to some extents. There is a need to address the issues by consulting psychologists, educationists, doctors and other concerned, the Chief Minister said.

He also stated that the state government is spending sufficient funds for the overall development of the education sector, aiming to provide quality education to the students in a clean and hygienic environment.

Dr. Saha also hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his tirelessly efforts in developing the education system across the country. 

“In Tripura because of PM Modi we could introduce NCERT syllabus and National Education Policy so that students don’t face any issues in their higher studies”, added CM.

Secretary of Education Saradindu Choudhury, Director of Elementary Education Subhasis Bandopadhyay, AMC Corporator Ratna Datta and others were present. Besides, a good number of students, their guardians and teachers were present in the programme.
