Agartala Jul 10: As a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Independence Day celebrations in Tripura, a month-long program titled ’75 Simanta Gram Kranti Veero Ke Naam’ “In the name of revolutionary heroes” is going to be inaugurated on July 14 next with a mega event in Sabroom through the hands of Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha.
To inspect the ongoing preparations centering the program, South Tripura DM, Sajju Wahid visited the spot on Monday.
Speaking to the reporters, the South Tripura DM said, “As a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations that was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aiming to foster patriotism among the netizens, the program spanning 2 years will conclude on August 15, 2023”.
“From July 14- August 15, Tripura will be hosting the ’75 Border Village Kranti Veero ke naam’ program to honour the freedom fighters and unsung heroes of the country. The chief minister Dr Manik Saha will inaugurate the month-long program at Sabroom on July 14 next”, he said.
A total of 75 border villages of Tripura across 16 subdivisions in 8 districts of the state have been selected for this initiative.
Checking the ongoing preparations at Navin Para area near the Maitru-Setu in Sabroom, Sajju Wahid further said, “Felicitation of freedom fighters and their families, bi-cycle rally, musical band program, 10km Marathon from Santirbazar, patriotic dramas among others will be organized on the occasion”.
The South DM further informed that, a memorial will be constructed near the Maitri bridge where names of at least 500 freedom fighters from Tripura will be enlisted as a part of providing tribute them and the foundation stone for the project will be laid by the chief minister on July 14.
“The memorial site will be later developed like a park and will be inaugurated before August 15”, he said.
