Agartala, June 30: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday attended a meeting with Union Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya via video conference and discussed the preparedness to combat vector-borne diseases.
The Chief Ministers and Health Ministers of various states participated in the meeting. The objective of the meeting was to assess the readiness of states and union territories in preventing and controlling vector-borne diseases during the monsoon season.
Along with others, Dr. Saha extensively discussed the advancements in health infrastructure and the preparedness of the state. He also addressed the various precautionary measures being taken in the field of public health.
“Ahead of the monsoon season, virtually reviewed the preparedness of States for the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases with the Health Ministers of over 22 States,”, Mandaviya tweeted.
In the meeting, Rajeev Majhi, Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, presented detailed information on the comparative position of states in the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, chikungunya, black fever, and Japanese encephalitis.
Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department Dr. Debashis Basu, Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, Mission Director of National Health Mission, Tripura- Subhashis Das, State Program Officer of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program Dr. Abhijit Das and other officials also joined the video conference.
