Sudhangshu assures Govt. assistance to farmers for livestock and fish rearing – aabtak24

Dharmanagar June 16: The state Fisheries and Animal Resource Development Department is working towards making the state self-reliant in terms of fish, meat and other animal products, said Minister for Fisheries and ARDD Sudhangshu Das.

Being on a 2-day visit in North Tripura district the Minister visited several places to take stock of the works going on under the department.

Friday, he visited various farms, fish reservoirs and interacted with the farmers and also encouraged them towards commercial production.

Accompanied by a team of officials of the concerned department, Sudhangshu Das at first visited Rupam Debnath’s pig farm in West Radhapur Gram Panchayat, Nirmal Chandra Sharma’s cow farm in Algapur, Fisherman Bishnupada Nath’s fish farm in Radhapur Gram Panchayat of Jubarajnagar block.

During the visit, Jubarajnagar former MLA Molina Debnath, Panchayat Samiti Chairman Shripada Das, Dharmanagar Pur Parishad Chairperson Pradyot De Sarkar, Fisheries Department Director Moslemuddin Ahmed, Animal Resource Development Department Director Dr. BK Das, Additional District Magistrate and other district level officials of the concerned departments were present.

Earlier, the minister also had a round-table meeting with all the officials and discussed how to increase people’s attention towards fisheries and animal husbandry and make the state self-reliant.

Later, the minister also interacted with the press at the Dharmanagar circuit house and detailed about the department’s ongoing works.

The minister said, emphasis is being laid on increasing the productivity of fish and other animal products in the state and see that importing from outside can be stopped.

Answering the question about milk production in the state, he said that till now 70 percent supply has been possible and the remaining 30 percent is still incomplete.

So, the state government has taken a plan to increase one milk collection centre in every district.

He also sought cooperation from the concerned administration, police department and common people to stop cattle trafficking through the Indo-Bangla border.
