Agartala Jun 28: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha emphasized reducing the NPA of banks and increasing the CD ratio. Chairing the 143rd State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) in the secretariat on Wednesday, Dr Saha also told the Bank representatives to adopt more proactive roles in fulfilling the cent per cent target of disbursement of loans to MSMEs.
“Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and Start-Up India Yojana are the two important schemes which can provide the youths of the State opportunities to become financially self-reliant. So, the banks need to play more proactive roles in distributing loans to the youths under these schemes”, Dr Saha emphasized.
The Chief Minister also asked the Bank officials to take steps to set up branches at Pramodnagar, Dhumachhara, Fatikroy, Karamchhara and Gandachhera. He also directed the Tripura Gramin Bank officials to open a branch of the Bank as per the demand of the local residents at Garjanmura in Udaipur.
Besides, he also told the Bank officials to open ATM counters in District and sub-divisional hospitals.
During the meeting, Convener of the SLBC Bikash Das detailed the loans disbursed to beneficiaries under different schemes during the 2022-23 FY. He said the banks disbursed a total of Rs 8707.44 crore to Agriculture, MSMEs and other Primary sectors till March 2022-23 FY. The Convener of the SLBC also presented detailed information on loans disbursed to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana and number of the bank accounts opened under different social security schemes like Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana.
Among others Chief Secretary JK Sinha, principal secretary of the ARDD BS Mishra, principal secretary of the Industries and Commerce KS Sethi, secretary of the Urban Development Abhishek Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister, PK Chakraborty, Director of the Seva Department under the Union Finance Ministry Dr PK Goyel and General Manager of the RBI Satbant Singh Mahato were present.
