Agartala June 22: Highlighting the achievements of the ICA Department in a press conference here on Thursday, secretary Dr P K Chakraborty said that the department is making continuous efforts to revive and develop the cultural heritage of the state.
In a bid to revive the cultural heritage of the stat, the ICA Department has decided to organize various classical festivals across the state, said secretary Dr Pradip Kumar Chakraborty.
“Poets, writers will be encouraged and literary conferences will be held in the coming days”, he said.
The Secretary of the department further said, “To develop and promote the folk culture of Tripura, musical instruments will be distributed to folk art centers in the state”.
Apart from that, various programs will be organized under the initiative of State Information and Culture Department in 75 border villages as a part of Azadi-ka-Amrit Mahotsav.
Talking about the welfare-oriented works to be taken by the department for the journalists of the state, Dr Chakraborty said, “The ICA Department shall provide a monthly family pension of Rs 5,000 if any accredited journalist of the state dies in an accident”.
Mentioning that conveying information and statements of the state government to the people is one of the main tasks of the Information and Culture Department, he said that official press releases are currently published in three languages – Bengali, English and Kokborok.
Presently, there are 74 print, 27 electronic and 32 wed media in the state authorized under the department.
So far, 15 display boards/LED screen boards have been installed in different districts of the state including capital city Agartala that telecast various valuable information of the state.
The department has taken initiative to install 6 more display boards, he said.
The secretary told the press that the Department of Information and Culture has already launched various new policies and guidelines such as Tripura Advertising Policy-2021, Tripura Media Representative Accreditation Guideline-2020, Tripura Journalist Pension Scheme-2021, Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme-2022.
“As per Tripura Media Representative Accreditation Guideline- 2020, 363 journalists of the state have been issued accreditation cards so far. According to the Tripura Journalist Pension Scheme-2021, the monthly pension of retired journalists has been increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000. At present 5 retired journalists of the state are getting the benefit of this pension”, he said.
National Insurance Company Limited has been selected for implementation of Tripura Journalist Health Insurance Scheme- 2022.
The secretary said that in this scheme, 80 percent of the insurance premium will be borne by the state government and 20 percent by the journalists.
