Shashi Tharoor On Manipur: Violence has been going on in Manipur, the north eastern state of the country for more than two and a half months. On the other hand, there is an uproar in the Parliament for not holding a debate on Manipur. Amidst all this, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has criticized the BJP government and the Prime Minister.

Shashi Tharoor said that in every country with a parliamentary system, the Prime Minister is answerable to the Parliament, he should take the members of the Parliament into confidence on this violence and the public on the actions of the government there. Tharoor said, also the government should tell the parliament why they have not dismissed the Manipur government yet. Why is the state government not able to do anything in Manipur so far?

He speaks everywhere then why not here?
Talking to NDTV, Shashi Tharoor said, As far as I know the Prime Minister is a very good orator, he does not miss any opportunity to speak on every platform where he is given the opportunity to speak. So why is he not saying anything in Parliament on Manipur violence when it is his responsibility to speak in Parliament.

Tharoor said, this is one of the most serious crises our country has faced in a long time, in which there has been a terrible loss of life and property. He said 140 or more people were killed in the country. He said, there was rape and violence in the state. He said, more than 50,000 people lost their homes in this terrible violence. Similar incidents are now happening in Mizoram as well. People are running away leaving North East.
