Senthil Balaji Dismissal Row: The Raj Bhavan and the Tamil Nadu government are at loggerheads over the dismissal of minister Senthil Balaji from the cabinet in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, the matter of the minister’s dismissal has reached the Madras High Court. Social activist and lawyer ML Ravi has challenged the governor’s order to sack the minister in court.

Senthil Balaji, the Electricity Minister in the Stalin government of Tamil Nadu, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the past. Balaji is currently in judicial custody, but CM Stalin did not remove him from the Council of Ministers. Taking an unprecedented step on Thursday (June 29), Governor RN Ravi issued an order to sack Senthil Balaji from the Council of Ministers. The Stalin government was enraged at this decision and said it would challenge the order in court.

Raj Bhavan postponed the order

Before the matter escalated, a new order was issued from the Raj Bhavan in the late evening, in which it was said to postpone the old order. Regarding this, the Governor wrote a letter to CM Stalin that he would consult the Attorney-General in the matter and take legal advice.
