‘Nothing has come out in the investigation’, says Bengal DGP on BJP’s complaint on misbehavior with woman -aabtak24

West Bengal: Strongly condemning the incident of thrashing of two women in Manipur by a mob, the BJP on Friday (July 21) claimed that  This type of misbehavior was done with women. Meanwhile, West Bengal Police DGP M Malviya revealed that nothing has been found in this regard. 

Bengal Police DGP M Malviya said, “The SP of Howrah Rural received a complaint through email from the BJP on July 13. It claimed that on July 8 i.e. at 11 am on the day of the panchayat elections, women from inside a booth was forcibly evicted. After this, obscene behavior was done with the woman. His clothes were torn. During this he got hurt. ” 

What did the DGP say?
DGP M Malviya further said that the SP of Howrah Rural immediately sent the complaint to the IC of the police station. The FIR was registered the next day i.e. on 14 July. With this, the investigation of the entire matter was started. Investigation did not reveal that any such incident took place. 

He further said that there was deployment of central forces in every panchayat. Voting takes place in Panchayat elections in Bengal. Due to this there is crowd. At present everyone has a phone, but its video was not found. The complainant also did not provide any video. 

DGP M Malviya said that we told the woman that if she had any kind of injury, then you must have got her treated. Tell us about it but haven’t told yet. We asked to record the statement under 164 of CrPC but till now no response has been given. Fact finding team of BJP went to Howrah Rural district but they also did not raise any such case, but investigation is still on.

What did the woman say?
Talking to news agency ANI, the woman said that she was dragged outside the polling booth by the hair pulling the stairs. My clothes were torn. What could have happened to me if my husband was not present during this time. Husband saved me. I have lodged an FIR in this matter. The woman claimed that all this was done by TMC people.

What did the BJP say?
West Bengal BJP President Sukant Majumdar said that the only difference between the incidents in Manipur and Bengal is that there is no video available of the two incidents in West Bengal like Manipur.

According to the news agency PTI, Majumdar said, ‘‘The incident that happened in Manipur is very sad, we strongly condemn it, such an incident should not happen anywhere, but in Bengal’s South Panchla, a woman member of BJP was paraded naked for contesting panchayat elections. Is this less tragic than Manipur?’’
