Vande Bharat Express: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Northeast’s first Vande Bharat Express on Monday (May 29). In this way, Assam will get the first ‘Vande Bharat Express’ train on Monday. On this occasion, the PM will dedicate the newly electrified sections to the nation and also inaugurate the newly constructed DEMU and MEMU sheds.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off Assam’s first Vande Bharat Express through video conference on May 29 at 12 noon.”
Tourism to get a boost
The state-of-the-art Vande Bharat Express will provide the people of the region a means to travel with speed and comfort, the PMO said And this will also give a boost to tourism in the area. This train connecting Guwahati to New Jalpaiguri will help save about one hour in travel time as compared to the fastest train at present.
Will cover the journey in 5 hours 30 minutes
Vande Bharat Express will cover the journey in 5 hours 30 minutes, while the current fastest train will cover the same journey in 6 hours 30 minutes takes time. The Prime Minister will also dedicate to the nation the newly electrified sections of the 182 kilometer long route. This will also help in reducing the travel time and provide pollution free transport.
PMO said it will also open doors for electric trains to enter Meghalaya. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate the newly constructed DEMU/MEMU shed at Lumding in Assam.
Before this, the hill state of Uttarakhand has got the gift of Vande Bharat Express train. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off this train from New Delhi Railway Station. This is the sixth Vande Bharat Express train for Delhi.
