Drugs Case: A Divyang athlete has covered his journey from Kerala to Kashmir. This journey has taken place against drugs and intoxication. Which was started by southern state athlete Joby Mathew. This journey of Joseph was around 3600 kilometers. Which was full of challenges as he is a Divyang.
Joby (nick name) is suffering from Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency. Joby said, "At the time of my birth my parents were very sad and doctors gave me 60% disability certificate but with the support of first my mother and later my wife, I was able to be disabled and challenge even normal people"
Joby has won gold medal
Joby said, "He is participating in the championship and I won three medals in Japan. Also won medals in Japan, Israel, Kazakhstan but my biggest title was in Spain in 2008 where I won gold medal in general category".
Joseph further said that he has been working with Bharat Petroleum since 2008, and he has shown during the last thirty years as a sportsperson that physical handicap cannot stop us from achieving anything in life. Joby said, “Drug abuse is the biggest challenge and I am here to give a message to the youth.” He has won 28 World Championship medals for India in World Arm Wrestling.
‘The legs are short but the hands are strong’
Joseph said, "I have short legs, but my hands are strong and I can beat any normal person in wrestling. If I can do it, why can’t the youth leading a healthy life do it. They can participate in sports instead of drugs." A specially-abled man along with his wife and two children embark on their journey from Kerala to Kashmir with an aim to spread the message against drug addiction.
