Agartala, June 29: In a successful drive towards building Neshamukt Tripura, the state police made a remarkable achievement at Ambassa in Dhalai district on Thursday.
During an anti-narcotics drive, Dhalai district police raided a vehicle bearing registration number TR01-BU-0234 (Mahindra Thar) at the Naka point under Ambassa police station.
“During the search, 300 cases of heroin (3.415 kg) having market value of approx Rs.13.8 crore have been recovered from the vehicle,” a police officer said.
He said, the drug consignment was found hidden inside the vehicle in an improvised cloth bag.
“Two persons on board- Mahabul Alam and Piklu Bhowmik have been arrested in this connection. A specific case has been registered and the probe is underway”, the police officer confirmed.
Meanwhile, Tripura is holding the top position in the North East region in drugs seizure. This is one of the biggest drugs seizures ever made in Tripura.
As instructed by Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, the state police has been continuously working towards the goal of making Tripura drugs-free & such efforts highlight the Police’s commitment to end the drugs menace.
