Agartala, July 06: Day before the commencement of the monsoon assembly session, the state opposition leader Animesh Debbarma on Thursday ruled out the newly formed script selection committee by the government and questioned the objective of the committee.
Addressing a press conference here at Agartala on Thursday, Debbarma said, “When the Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha had put his statement stating that Kokborok script can be written in Roman and moreover when the CBSE had also recommended the Roman script for Kokborok language, what is the point of constituting this committee which has no clarification regarding its objective?”
“Even if the government had found it necessary to form the committee then the committee had not included the main stakeholders of the student fraternity,” he added.
He said, “During the last assembly session, during the calling attention, when I raised the issue of the script for Kokborok language, the Chief Minister stated that the Roman script can be used in writing Kokborok scripts. Also, the CBSE responding to our demand for inclusion of Roman script for Kokborok language had recommended it.”
On a different note of the recruitment of the STGT, Debbarma castigated the government to state that the government is playing with the unemployed educated and graduate youths of the state in the name of recruitment.
He said, “Soon after the government issued a notification regarding filling up of 230 vacant posts of graduate teachers, an individual had filed a petition with the Tripura High Court and at the meanwhile over 9000 graduates had sat for the examinations, but after series of hearing, the HC dismissed the government notification and on other hand government is not declaring the results of the examinations conducted to recruit the STGTs.”
“Now, when the graduate aspirants who sat for the examinations are demanding the publication of the results, the government may make an excuse saying that the examinations will be cancelled as the HC had dismissed the notification,” he said.
The leader of opposition Animesh Debbarma however demanded the government to not dismiss the examinations which were already conducted, rather take appropriate steps regarding the dismissal of the notification.
