Sonamura Jul 14: In the sensational case of the killing of Durga Kumar Hrankhawl, a sub-inspector of Kalamchoura Police Station, Sepahijala District Judge Sanjoy Bhattacharjee acquitted all seven accused persons on Friday. The SI was patrolling along with other Police and TSR personnel near the BSF camp along the Boxanagar-Sonamura road. He noticed three vehicles were moving along the road to Sonamura at high speed on November 21, 2019.
On suspicion, he signalled the vehicles to stop. After two vehicles ignored his signal, he tried to stop the third one. Instead of stopping, the vehicle hit Hrankhawl and left critically injured. On the next day, Hrankhawl succumbed. A case was lodged and after hearing witnesses of 17 persons, Judge Sanjoy Bhattacharjee acquitted all seven accused persons.
It was learnt, the vehicle number of the ‘killer’ vehicle was fake.
