Manipur Violence: After the caste violence in Manipur on May 3, the situation in the state remains tense till now. Although the curfew was relaxed in some areas of Manipur for a long time, but keeping in view the violent incidents on Saturday, the government has extended the internet ban for five more days. The order issued by the Home Department states that the internet ban will be effective till 3 pm on June 15. 

According to ANI, Manipur’s Information and Public Relations Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan said, ‘We are providing internet services wherever needed for some government institutions and emergency services. Depending on the situation, consideration will be given to lifting the ban.’

‘No untoward incident in the state in 24 hours’

Let us tell you that for the last one month, Manipur is battling with the fire of ethnic violence. That’s why the state government has banned internet in violence affected areas. Even before this, on Tuesday, the Manipur government had extended the internet ban till June 10. In view of the situation, Commissioner (Home) H Gyan Prakash had said that mobile data services including broadband have been banned till 3 pm on June 10. The decision to ban internet in the state was first taken in the first week of May.
