Agartala Jul 01: Money collected from taxes is spent on the development of the country. Taxpayers play an important role in the overall development.
Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy made the aforesaid statement as he inaugurated the GST Day celebrations at Agartala Town Hall here on Saturday.
The finance minister urged to participate in the overall development of the country by paying taxes on time.
He said that those who have not yet got themselves involved with GST should get involved at the earliest.
On the occasion, Singha Roy said,” GST was introduced in the country in the year 2017. This has proved to be a breakthrough system in paying taxes, although traders faced some difficulties in paying taxes initially. As transparency in tax collection has increased, so has tax collection”.
The finance minister further said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, various programs are being successfully implemented for the welfare of the people across the country in addition to the state.
Besides, the construction of six national highways in the state, there has been a great improvement in the railway communication system, he said.
Finance Secretary Brijesh Pandey congratulated the taxpayers while adding that since the introduction of GST, tax collection has increased in the past years.
The Finance Secretary urged the businessmen to join the GST and participate in the overall development of the country.
In the event, Additional Secretary Finance Akinchan Sarkar, Chief Commissioner of State Tax Rakhi Biswas and Joint Commissioner CGST Samuel Waipu discussed various aspects of GST’s success in tax collection.
Businessmen who are successful in paying taxes were felicitated at the day’s event.
Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and other guests presented certificates and mementos to them.
Assistant Tax Commissioner Dibakar Chandra Dey presented the vote of thanks.
