Agartala June 20: GB Pant Hospital in capital city Agartala is the State’s prime referral hospital, but it shockingly hasn’t had a functional ECHO machine since Friday last.
It has been sending back patients, even those admitted, requiring emergency Echocardiography asking many to get the tests done in private diagnostic centres.
Such a scenario was witnessed in the GB Pant Hospital on Tuesday when patients from far flung areas had to return back without doing the tests despite of having proper appointments for the day.
Resented with the situation, one of the patients who stood in the long queue said, “We had appointment for conducting the Echo tests at the hospital for today, but reaching here after travelling such long distance we came to know that both the Echo machines are out of order”.
When asked about this, the hospital employee said, “From Friday last, both the Echo machines are out of order and therefore tests cannot be conducted”.
“Authorities have been informed about the situation and the engineer will visit in next 1-2 days”, he added.
Meanwhile, the lack of Echo facility in the hospital often delays diagnosis.
