Haryana Farmers Protest: Farmers in Haryana protested strongly on Tuesday (June 6) for the purchase of sunflower seeds at MSP. The farmers had blocked the national highway near Shahabad in Kurukshetra district. Police used water cannon to disperse the protesting farmers.
On the call of BKU (Chadhuni) chief Gurnam Singh Chadhuni, the farmers blocked the Delhi-Chandigarh National Highway near Shahbad. The protesting farmers claimed that the government was not procuring sunflower seeds at the MSP, forcing them to sell their produce to private buyers at around Rs 4,000 per quintal against the Rs 6,400 MSP. p>

Chadhuni said at the protest site that until the government does not accept our demand, our protest will continue. The protesters said that they are against the government’s move to include sunflower seeds in the Bhavantar Bharpayee scheme. Under this, the government will give a fixed compensation of Rs 1,000 per quintal for the produce sold below the MSP.
Procure sunflower seeds on MSP
He demanded that sunflower seeds should be procured at MSP. Opposition Congress has also targeted the state government on the sunflower issue. Senior Congress leader and former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda recently said That sunflower farmers are waiting for the minimum support price and farmers are incurring a loss of Rs 1,500 to 2,500 per quintal by selling their produce to private traders.
