Wrestling Federation Elections: The Indian Olympic Association will conduct the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) elections on July 4. Mahesh Mittal Kumar, former Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, has been appointed as the Returning Officer for the Wrestling Federation of India elections. Wrestlers are protesting demanding the arrest of the outgoing chief of the wrestling federation, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

The government had given assurance to the wrestlers

The government had assured the wrestlers that by June 15, a charge sheet would be filed against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Along with this, there was also talk of holding the elections of the wrestling federation and withdrawing the FIR lodged against the protesting wrestlers. After this, the wrestlers had announced to postpone their protest till June 15. However, after this the wrestlers on Saturday accused Brij Bhushan Singh of pressuring him. 

Allegations of pressurizing Brij Bhushan Singh

The wrestlers have alleged that WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is pressurizing the victims of sexual harassment to change their statements and will resume their protest if strict action is not taken against them by June 15. On Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh A minor wrestler who made the allegations has changed her statement. The wrestlers have said that the father of the minor has told us that pressure has been put on him. That’s why they have changed the statements. His entire family is in depression.
