Meteorological Department: Indian Meteorological Department is continuously issuing warnings regarding Biparjoy cyclone. IMD has said that Biparjoy may turn into a severe cyclonic storm in the coming times. At the same time, there is a strong possibility of it moving north around June 15. 

Director General of Meteorology Dr. Mrityunjay Mahapatra said, "The center of Biparjoy cyclone is in the center of the Arabian Sea. It is about 450 km to the south-west of Porbandar. Our forecast is to move north of it. It will cross the Kutch coast by the afternoon of June 15, with a wind speed of 125-135 kmph."

The biggest threat on June 15

Dr. Mohapatra told news agency ANI, "The Biparjoy cyclone is the most dangerous on June 15 and everyone should stay indoors in a safe place. With the arrival of the cyclone, trees, electric poles, cellphone towers can be uprooted, due to which there can be disruption in electricity and telecommunication. Due to this standing crops will also be damaged."

Yellow alert for many districts of Kerala including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Kozhikode and Kannur due to Cyclone Biparajoy has been issued. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed at the beaches of Porbandar, Gir Somnath and Valsad as a precautionary measure ahead of the storm.
