Himanta Biswa Sarma On Manipur Violence: Ever since the video of the incident of two women being paraded naked in Manipur surfaced, there has been a ruckus between the opposition parties and the central government. The silence of PM Modi is constantly being questioned by the Congress.

Now once again the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has targeted the Congress fiercely on this issue. They said, "Congress is suddenly showing extreme interest in Manipur. It is necessary to look back at the party and see Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s response to similar crises in the state."

Assam CM accuses Congress

Himanta Biswa said, "The duplicity of the party is worrying. Manipur had become the blockade capital of the country during the tenure of UPA. Between 2010 and 2017, when the Congress ruled the state, blockades ranged from 30 days to 139 days every year."

‘When Manipur was burning in 2011’

He said, "During each of these blockades, the prices of petrol and LPG had increased by Rs 240 to Rs 1,900 per litre. 2011 was one of the worst blockade in Manipur lasting more than 120 days. In 2011, when Manipur was burning, the then Prime Minister and UPA Chairman did not utter a single word in those 123 days. He was busy rescuing private companies."

Old caste conflicts will soon be resolved

Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "It will take time to mend the fault lines created by 7 decades of misrule. Since 2014, there has been tremendous improvement in the social fabric of Manipur. This process of solving the decades-old ethnic conflicts will be completed soon."
