Agartala June 10: Sadar district committee of Tripura Pradesh Congress conducted a tree plantation drive at the Maharajganj Bazar in view of World Environment Day here on Saturday.
A rally of congress leaders and activists traversed different routes of the capital city to spread awareness over the theme of World Environment Day – 2023 theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution”.
Speaking on the occasion, former MLA and senior Congress leader Asish Kumar Das said, “The day’s program including the plantation drive has been organized by Sadar district congress committee to raise awareness among the common people and urge them for taking action in favour of the environment”.
“Considering the growing urbanization and population a major initiative must be taken to encourage people to live sustainable lifestyles and completely ban production, use and disposal of plastics”, he added.
Tripura Congress Seva Dal members also took part in the program.
