Mamata Banerjee Speech: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee apologized to the people of Egra on Saturday (May 27). Twelve people were killed and many were injured in a blast at an illegal firecracker factory here. 

According to news agency PTI, Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, who reached Kharikul village 11 days after the blast, said that if the intelligence system had worked properly, the accident could have been prevented. After distributing compensation checks to the families of those killed and injured in the blast, she said, “I bow before you and apologize for this incident (explosion at an illegal firecracker factory on May 16). 

What did CM Mamata Banerjee say?
Banerjee also handed over the appointment letter for the post of ‘Home Guard’ to each member of the families of those killed in the May 16 blast. He said that the owner of the illegal factory and two people from the family of the main accused have been arrested. During this, the Chief Secretary of the state H.K. Dwivedi was also present. 

According to news agency PTI, nine people have been arrested so far for their alleged involvement in the blast. The main accused died three days later in a hospital in Cuttack, Odisha. He fled to Cuttack with his family soon after the incident.

What did the BJP say? 
BJP leader Agnimitra Paul targeted the state government on the blast in the factory. He had said, talking about industry in West Bengal, there are bomb factories everywhere. For this reason, whenever there is a blast, it is first known that there was a blast in the firecrackers factory, but later when the investigation is done, it is found that it was a bomb making factory.
