Agartala, July 12: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in an oblique reference strongly criticized the role of Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman in the House before he was suspended on the first day of the on-going Budget session.
Without naming Roy Barman, the Chief Minister said, a member of the House says that he (CM) doesn’t know the rules. He (Roy Barman) is experienced but why did he deliver the derogatory remark even after knowing the rules.
During a discussion on the first day of the on-going Budget Session, Roy Barman spoke about a story where he mentioned that the owner of a dog was unable to control his pet. He had indicated that the Speaker was unable to control the ruling party MLAs while Ratanlal Nath was the target.
This remark sparked-off strong resentment among the members of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
The Chief Minister said, MLA Gopal Roy always refers Speaker Biswabandhu Sen as ‘Natyakar’ or (drama artist). Referring to this, Dr. Saha without naming said the MLA (Roy Barman) is the number one Natyakar of Tripura.
Dr. Saha said, the Finance minister wanted to place the Budget in a good atmosphere but it couldn’t be possible due to chaos from a few MLAs. He strongly criticized the role of some Tipra Motha MLAs for climbing the assembly table.
In his discussion on the Budget, the Chief Minister spoke about all the major points and he also drew a comparison between the Budget of 2017-18 and the Budget of 2023-24.
The Chief Minister also thanked Finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy and his team for preparing the Budget with the goal to fulfil the aspirations of the people.
