Madhya Pradesh Election: Dalit politics is on the rise in Madhya Pradesh. In order to help Dalit voters, BJP has decided to build Sant Ravidas temple and take out Samrasta Yatras, while Congress claims that it understands the hypocrisy of BJP regarding Dalit voters. Even after making three announcements, the temple of Saint Ravidas was not built and now Dalits are missing before the elections.
All the newspapers of Madhya Pradesh are littered with photographs of Saint Ravidas and Samrasata Yatras to be taken out in his memory on Tuesday (July 25). The BJP is taking out harmony yatras from four Dalit-dominated districts of the state. PM at Sagar at the end of these visits Narendra Modi will come and address a massive convention of Dalits.
BJP had won 17 seats in the last election
Elections in Madhya Pradesh are after four months and after tribal voters, BJP has now set out to woo Dalit voters. The population of Dalits in the state is seventeen to eighteen percent of the total population of the state. That is, there are about 64 lakh Dalit voters, for whom 35 out of 230 assembly seats are reserved seats. Of these, the Congress won 18 seats and the BJP 17 in the last election.
When Kamal Nath’s government fell, four SC MLAs also left Congress and joined BJP. That is, now 21 Dalit MLAs are in BJP’s court. Dalit voters are generally considered to belong to BSP, but in the last election two BSP MLAs won on general seats. The division of votes of BJP is in favor of Congress, BJP knows this.
Prime Minister’s visit to Sagar on August 12
Dalit population is in good numbers in 10 to 15 districts of Madhya Pradesh and has a direct impact on the election results, so this time BJP wants to win more and more Dalit seats by spreading the propaganda of its organization and work.
In Madhya Pradesh, the vote percentage between BJP and Congress remains almost equal. The government is made or broken only by the manipulation of a few seats. For this reason, BJP wants to become Dalit-friendly by building a big temple of Saint Ravidas in Sagar district to help Dalits. On the other hand, the Congress also wanted its Dalit face, party president Mallikarjun Kharge, to visit Sagar and Bundelkhand. His arrival was fixed on the 13th, but after the Prime Minister’s visit to Sagar was fixed on the 12th, Kharge’s visit has been postponed, due to which the Congress people are enraged.
What is BJP’s hope?
BJP hopes that with Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Sagar, it will be able to convince Dalit voters that the party has learned a lesson from the anti-Dalit violence during the last assembly elections and will leave no stone unturned for the upliftment of Dalits.
BJP’s concern is that due to the weakening of BSP, Dalit voters directly benefit Congress. For this reason, till the elections, the BJP is continuously organizing events among the Dalits and making efforts to win them over. On the contrary, the Congress is assuming that Dalits are and will remain the traditional voters of the Congress party.
