Tamil Nadu Politics: Lok Sabha elections are to be held in the year 2024. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will start BJP’s ‘En Mana, En Makkah’ (My Land, My People) yatra in Tamil Nadu from Rameswaram on July 28. Before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, this decision has been taken with the aim of increasing its mass base in this southern state.
BJP national general secretary and in-charge of party affairs for the state CT Ravi said the yatra will be organized in five phases and will pass through entire Tamil Nadu before ending in Chennai in the second week of January.
CT Ravi said, ‘I believe that this visit can prove to be a game changer. The popularity of the BJP is on the rise and there is an anti-incumbency wave against the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government. Ravi criticized the MK Stalin-led government on issues like corruption and poor law and order situation.
BJP’s eye on Tamil Nadu
This ‘padayatra’ will be led by BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit president K Annamalai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP has not been able to do much in this state so far. Ravi said that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) The DMK-led opposition will win more seats than the Lok Sabha elections.
BJP is in alliance with AIADMK and some other parties in Tamil Nadu. There is a view in the party that Annamalai has established an identity in the state due to his aggressiveness and outspoken stand on many issues. Tamil Nadu has 39 Lok Sabha seats, the DMK-led alliance won a landslide victory in the 2019 elections.
