Agartala, June 10: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday accused the opposition TIPRA Motha party over the alleged attack on the mass gathering programme of the BJP-IPFT held at Khumulwung in Friday last.

Addressing a press conference here at the party headquarter at Krishnanagar, the party’s spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee expressed his concern over the incident and warned the workers of the TIPRA Motha party to refrain from violence.

“The unruly TIPRA Motha workers had targeted the mass gathering of the BJP-IPFT held at Khumulwung on Friday last and discovered an attack on the workers of the IPFT and BJP too, who attended the programme,” he alleged.

He further alleged that the Motha workers attempted to dismantle the massive gathering of the BJP-IPFT, which perhaps evoked massive response from the people of the tribal communities. “The miscreants of the Motha party have thrown bombs, issued threats, and carried out physical assaults on the people who attended our programme,” he told reporters.

He said, “The BJP workers have been subjected to such attacks not only in Khumulwung, but also in other parts of the state.”

Bhattacharya expressed confidence that the police would take appropriate action in response to these incidents. On the other hand, the party spokesperson Bhattacharjee castigated the CPI(M) and the Left front over their allegation of food and job crisis in the tribal pockets of Gandacherra. Ambassa and other parts of the Dhalai district of the state.

He ruled out the allegations and said, “There is no crisis in the ration shops in any parts of the Dhalai district, rather there is adequate storage of food items in the ration shops. This is just to hatch a conspiracy against the government that they are bringing such false allegations.”

“The CPI(M), whom the people of all walks of life and especially the tribals of this state, is trying to portrait the state of Tripura in a negative way,” he further alleged, claiming that the BJP led coalition government has brought all round development for the people belonging to the tribal communities and also for others.
