Agartala March 29: Calling for a “boycott of BJP- TIPRA Motha alliance”, Tripura Congress president and I.N.D.I.A blocs Lok Sabha candidate for West Tripura seat, Asish Kumar Saha urged the people to vote for the Congress and CPI-M candidates in the ensuing polls.

Addressing a Bazaar Sabha at Killa Bazaar under Bagma assembly constituency on Friday, the TPCC president slammed TIPRA Motha chief, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman for ‘playing with the sentiments and beliefs of the people belonging to indigenous communities’.

He said, “For all this while, the Maharaja turned politician claimed that because of the anti-people policies of the ruling BJP, the development of the tribals has not been possible. He used to castigate the ruling party and its leaders including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for misgovernance. But as soon as he got an opportunity to fill his own coffers, he is now friends with them”.

“This the time when the tribal people must raise questions over the so-called Bubagra’s lofty slogans, Thansa and constitutional rights for the people and ask him why he betrayed them”, said Asish.

Urging the people to boycott the alliance of BJP and TIPRA Motha, the West Tripura Parliamentary candidate alleged, “He has tried to sell the Tiprasa people and has looked into his own interests, his family’s interests, he never wanted the wellbeing of the Tiprasa”.

Saha further lashed out at the BJP government in the Centre as well as in the state on several issues including, unemployment, price hike and others.

The TPCC president said if elected to power, his party will grant necessary rights, political and economic resources to the tribal people and urged them to vote in favor of the I.N.D.I.A bloc candidates in both the Lok Sabha seats.

Former CPI-M minister Ratan Bhowmik, Udaipur District Congress president Titan Pal among others remained present at the meeting.
