Chandrashekhar Azad Attack News: Azad Samaj Party President Chandrashekhar Azad was attacked on Wednesday (June 28) in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. According to the police, some assailants opened fire on his car in which he was injured. Reactions of various leaders have come to the fore regarding the attack. 

AIMIM Chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi also tweeted about this. Owaisi said, "The attack on Chandrashekhar Azad should be condemned in the strongest possible terms. Fascist forces do not have the courage to fight in a democratic manner. They want to achieve their objective through violence. It should be impartially investigated and the attackers should be punished severely."

What did Rakesh Tikait say?

Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait also called the attack on Bhim Army chief and National President Azad Samaj Party Chandrashekhar Azad a cowardly act. He appealed and said that the Uttar Pradesh government should take the strictest action by identifying the culprits. We pray to God for his safe and speedy recovery. 

Akhilesh Yadav condemned the attack

Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav tweeted about the attack on Azad, “The murderous attack on the National President of Azad Samaj Party, Chandrashekhar Azad in Deoband, Saharanpur by criminals protected by power is highly condemnable.” When the people’s representatives are not safe in the BJP rule, what will happen to the general public. 

What did Hanuman Beniwal say?

National Democratic Party chief and MP from Nagaur Lok Sabha seat Hanuman Beniwal said, "The news of attack on Azad in Deoband of Saharanpur is very sad. I wish Chandrashekhar ji’s speedy recovery. There is no place for such acts in a democracy."

Sachin Pilot also condemned

Congress leader and former Deputy CM of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot has also tweeted condemning the attack. They said, "I condemn the cowardly attack on Bhim Army President Chandrashekhar Azad. Violence has no place in society. I hope that the Uttar Pradesh government will take strict action against the criminals. I wish him a speedy recovery."

‘Chandrashekhar was shot four rounds’

On the other hand, according to news agency PTI, City Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik told, "Azad was returning to Chhutmalpur from the house of a party worker in Deoband on Wednesday. When his vehicle was in Deoband area, the assailants who came riding in a Haryana number car fired four rounds at Chandrashekhar, from which one bullet came out touching his stomach. The glasses of the car were also broken in this firing."
