Agartala, July 04: The state committee of the All India Krishak Sabha (AIKS) jointly with the Tripura Khet Mazdoor Union and Ganamukti Parishad on Tuesday announced to go for ‘Bidhansabha Abhiyan’ on July 12 next to press for their 15-point charter of demands.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday here at Agartala the CPI(M) leader Pabitra Kar castigated the ruling BJP led coalition government and alleged that during the last five years of their rule in Tripura, the government did nothing for the upliftment of the agriculture sector of the state and also failed to enhance the income of the farmers.
“In view of the present worsening situation reeling in the state, we decided to get the khet mazdoors and jhumias from all parts of the state gathered on July 12 for Bidhansabha Abhiyan and place deputation to the Chief Minister during the monsoon assembly session,” he told reporters.
The demands include – Resumption and ensure adequate works under MGNREGA and TUEP, increase establishment of paddy procurement centres covering the ADC areas of the state, increase of wages of agricultural workers and ensure legal guarantees, ensure government assistance for the construction of the habitants of all landless and homeless khet mazdoor families and jhumias, empower TTAADC under the 6th Schedule of the 125th amendment act, inclusion of Kok-Borok language in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, and others.
