UPSC Civil Services Result 2022: After the announcement of UPSC 2022 results on Tuesday (May 23), there was a controversy regarding 2 ranks. UPSC has made its stand clear regarding this. The Union Public Service Commission has spoken of criminal action against two candidates (Ayesha Makrani and Tushar Kumar) who are allegedly claiming selection.
According to news agency PTI, UPSC issued a statement on Friday (May 26) saying, "The claims of both the persons are false. They have forged documents in their favor to prove their claims." The statement said that by doing so, both Makrani and Tushar have violated the provisions of the Civil Services Examination, 2022 Rules notified by the Central Government (Department of Personnel and Training). Therefore as per the provisions of the Examination Rules, UPSC is considering criminal and disciplinary penal action against both the candidates for cheating.
What did the UPSC statement say?
The statement said, "UPSC’s system is strong as well as completely secure and such mistakes are not possible." UPSC conducts civil services examination every year in three stages-preliminary, main and interview to select officers for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS).
Sharing the details, the commission said that Ayesha Makrani, daughter of Salimuddin Makrani, who claimed to have been recommended by UPSC for final selection, has been found to have forged documents in her favour.
Ayesha Makrani scores less
It was said in the statement that the actual roll number of Ayesha Makrani is 7805064. He appeared in the preliminary examination held on June 5, 2022 and scored only 22.22 marks in General Studies Paper-I and 21.09 marks in General Studies Paper-II.
UPSC said, "As per the requirement of the examination rules, he needed to score at least 66 marks in Paper-II. Not only has she failed to qualify in Paper-II, but has also scored less than the cut-off marks in Paper-I. The cut-off marks for the preliminary examination of the year 2022 was 88.22 marks for the unreserved category."
‘Makrani failed in the preliminary stage’
The UPSC statement said that therefore, Ayesha Makrani failed in the preliminary stage itself and could not proceed to the next stage of the examination. On the other hand, Ayesha Fathima, daughter of Naziruddin with roll number 7811744, is the genuine candidate, according to UPSC, who has secured 184th rank in the final result of UPSC Civil Services Examination, 2022.
Similarly, in the case of Tushar s/o Brijmohan of Rewari, Haryana, he had applied for Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2022 and was allotted Roll No. 2208860 for this examination. UPSC said that he appeared in the preliminary examination and scored minus 22.89 marks in General Studies Paper-I and 44.73 marks in General Studies Paper-II. As per the exam rules, he needed to score at least 66 marks in Paper-II.
‘Tushar also failed in the preliminary exam itself’
The statement said that thus, Tushar also failed in the preliminary examination stage itself and could not proceed to the next stage of the examination. The statement said, "On the other hand, it is confirmed that Tushar Kumar S/o Ashwani Kumar Singh, a resident of Bihar, bearing Roll No. 1521306, is the genuine candidate who has secured 44th rank in UPSC examination."
The media channel reported irresponsibly – Commission
The commission said that there have been a lot of news about these two in the electronic / print media. One of such media channels irresponsibly reported that UPSC has rectified its mistake in one of the above two cases and is probing the matter as to how such mistake happened, the statement said. >
It has been said in the statement that many other media channels and social media portals also broadcast this news without any verification. UPSC said that the said media channel displayed unprofessional attitude.
The statement said, "It is reiterated that UPSC has a robust and foolproof system to remove any such mistakes of the alleged nature. Media is expected to verify the veracity of such claims with UPSC before telecasting/publishing news of such fake claims through their print/channels."
