Manipur Viral Video: After the video of brutality with women in Manipur, the police have so far arrested four accused in the case. The surprising thing is that two months have passed since the incident but the police managed to nab the accused only when the video went viral. Questions are also being raised on the delay in police action as to why these accused were not arrested earlier. A senior police officer of Manipur has given the answer.

Recently the whole country was shaken when the video of the incident which embarrassed humanity came to the fore in Manipur. In the video, two women were seen being paraded naked by the crowd. It is alleged that one of these women was also raped before being paraded naked. After the video went viral, the police said that the incident took place on May 4 and an FIR has also been registered in this matter, but the accused have not been arrested.

On Thursday (July 20), the first arrest was made in this case and the police told that the main accused has been arrested. After this three other accused were also arrested.

The reason given by the police for the delay in the arrest

After two months, questions are being raised on the arrest of the accused. On the delay in arresting the accused, Thoubal district SP Satchidanand told The Indian Express that the police could not take action against the accused so far due to lack of evidence. However, he rubbished the claims that the police were present at the spot. The SP said that on the day of the incident, the Nangpok Sekmei police station was attacked by a mob with the intention of looting weapons, all the police were engaged in the security of the station.

A victim had earlier told The Indian Express that the police were with the mob that attacked. He had said, the police had picked us up from near the house and taken us some distance away from the village and left us near the crowd on the road. The police handed us over to the mob.

Zero FIR was registered on May 18
