Bengal Panchayat Election Results 2023 Live: Today (July 11) is the day of West Bengal Panchayat election results. Strict security arrangements have been made for the counting of votes held on July 8 and 10 amid several incidents of violence. Voters have cast their votes for 73,887 seats in the rural areas of the state. The fate of 2 lakh more candidates is to be decided.
There was widespread violence during the polling at over 61,000 polling stations for the three-tier panchayat elections held on July 8. During the violence, ballot boxes were looted, set on fire or thrown into ponds at several places. . Thereafter, re-polling was held on Monday (July 10) in about 700 polling stations (booths) in the 19 districts where the poll was declared invalid.
The State Election Commission (SEC) had ordered re-polling at 696 booths on Sunday (July 9) evening. After this, the re-polling began at 7 am on Monday. No major untoward incident was reported on Monday but 15 people lost their lives in the violence during the panchayat elections in the state.
Tell that central forces have been deployed at all the counting centers, CCTV cameras are being monitored. News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Monday (July 10) and apprised him about the violence during the elections.
