Agartala, July 7: Amid chaos from the Opposition members, Tripura Finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy on Friday presented a Rs. 27,654.40-crore State Budget for the FY 2023-24 in the House.
This is the first full-fledged budget presented by the BJP government 2.0 for an all-round development of the state.
The Capital Expenditure is projected at Rs. 5358.70 crore with an increase of 22.28 percent over the RE 2022-23, the Finance minister mentioned in his budget speech.
The Budget tabled in the first day of Second Session of 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly showed an increase of 9.87 percent as compared to the allocation of previous year. The Budget deficit is Rs. 611.3 crore.
The Budget allocation included Rs. 4938 crore (17.86 percent) for Education, Rs. 3418.70 crore (12.36 percent) for Rural Development including Panchayat, Rs. 1755.62 crore (6.35 percent) for Healthcare and Rs. 1436.41 crore (3.91 percent) for Agriculture.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha in his reaction termed the budget as ‘inclusive’.
He said the Budget highlights the State Government’s goal of building “Unnata Tripura, Shrestha Tripura” & fulfilling the aspirations of the common people.
The Finance minister in his Budget speech said, this Budget is a blueprint for things to come in future and transform Tripura into a developed state.
“I hope that this budget will play a very important role for over welfare of the people of the state and for implementation of the same, I expect cooperation from all sections of people….”, the Finance minister said.
