UCC Issue: BJP’s allies are also protesting amidst the ruckus on Uniform Civil Code. Now the AIADMK, an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has cleared its stand on the Uniform Civil Code on Wednesday (July 5). The party says that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) could potentially harm the religious freedom of minority communities in India. 

AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami said, "Our stand on UCC is the same as in the 2019 election manifesto. We have explained everything in brief there."

What did the AIADMK manifesto say?
 
AIADMK’s election manifesto said that the AIADMK would urge the Indian government to make any amendment to the constitution for the UCC Do not bring, which will adversely affect the religious rights of the minorities of India. Apart from this, in the manifesto, the party has also urged the Center to implement Tamil language as the official language of the country. 

Answer on the question of alliance with BJP?

According to news agency PTI, when Palaniswami was asked about his party’s alliance with the BJP (2024 for the Lok Sabha elections) he said, "There is no election yet. There is a year to go for the elections, there is no hurry. At the time of elections, of course we will tell you with which parties we are in alliance."

Recently the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on UCC in Bhopal, the discussion about UCS has increased. PM Modi had said that having two separate laws is not good for the country and believes that the UCC is an integral part of the Constitution.
