Agartala, June 23: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday chaired a review meeting with the Health officials and held discussions on malaria and other communicable diseases.
In the meeting held at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister asked the Health department to work on a mission mode to prevent malaria and intensify campaign activities to raise mass awareness.
After reviewing the initiatives taken by the Health department to prevent malaria, Dr. Saha, who also holds the Health portfolio, stressed on more involvement of MPWs and Asha workers with training.
Health secretary Dr. Debashis Basu said, a central health team visited several malaria-prone areas in the state and several initiatives have been taken as per their observations.
He said, a process is underway to distribute 1.14 lakh medicated mosquito nets in the remote areas under Dhalai district. Besides, 33,600 larvivorous fishes were released in various water bodies.
The Health department is regularly organizing health and awareness camps to raise awareness about the cause of malaria and its bad impact, Dr. Basu said.
The other initiatives included- regular tests of blood samples of Jhumias and training of Community Health Officers. According to the Health secretary, an initiative would be taken for monitoring through drones in the Jhum cultivation areas.
Joint secretary of Health department Rajiv Majhi, Director of Union Ministry of health and Family Welfare Dr. Tanushree Jain, Health director Dr. Subhashis Debbarma, NHM Tripura mission director Subhasis Das and Chief Medical Officers of various districts were present in the review meeting.
