Dharmanagar June 10: Five Bangladeshi nationals including three men and two women were detained from the Agartala-Bangalore-bound Humsafar Express at Dharmanagar railway station on Saturday morning.
The detainees have been identified as Shafiqul Islam, 40, resident of Pashurgunia, Bangladesh, Mumtaz Akhtar,18, resident of Pushkhali, Bangladesh, Rozina Begum, 35, resident of Pushkhali, Bangladesh, Mohammad Rafiq, 27, resident of Pashurgunia, Bangladesh and Shahab Ali Sheikh, 61, from Pasurganiya Bangladesh.
As the illegal entrants were interrogated, they said that the broker took Rs 20,000 from each of them to help in crossing the international border.
The brokers made them cross the Indo-Bangla border through a place called Amtali in Bangladesh in the dark of night.
They did not see any Border Security Force (BSF) jawans on the spot and from there came to Agartala railway station.
Out of these five, Mohammad Rafiq has been working in Bangalore for the past few years and he has taken more Bangladeshi nationals to Bangalore for work purposes.
Police sources however said that the nabbed illegal Bangladeshi entrants will be produced before the court and further interrogation will help to reveal the links of local brokers who are helping in such illegal deeds.
