Manipur Viral Video News: The incident of women being paraded naked in Manipur has put the whole country to shame. This incident happened on 4 May. Whose video went viral on social media on Wednesday (July 19). After this Manipur Government and Police came into action and arrested a total of four people including the main accused in the incident. Meanwhile, the victim of this incident narrated her ordeal.

One of the victims told The Indian Express on Thursday (July 20) that she was handed over to the mob by the police. Three women have been brutalized in this incident. One of these women is 20 years old, the other is 40 years old and the third woman is 50 years old. The woman alleged that the police were with the mob that was attacking our village. The police picked us up from near the house and took us a little away from the village and left us on the road with the crowd. The police handed him over to those miscreants.

Manipur victim narrates her story

He said we were five people. Two of whom were murdered. After this the mob brutalized us. Then somehow we escaped from there. He also told that he is not aware of this viral video because internet is not working here. The woman further said that many people were involved in the crowd, but she recognizes some of them. A friend of the woman’s brother was also involved in this. 

Paraded naked, gang-raped

In the viral video of this incident, women were seen being paraded naked through the crowd. Some people can be seen dragging two women towards the field and molesting them forcefully. In the FIR lodged on May 18, the victims also alleged that the youngest of the victims, a 20-year-old woman, was also gang-raped. 

The mob attacked the village

In the complaint, he had said that on May 4, his village B.K. Phenom was attacked by the mob. People’s houses were burnt and looted. After which he fled into the forest to save his life. He was later rescued by the Thoubal police and was being taken to the police station, but the mob stopped him on the way and took him away from police custody, about two kilometers from the station. 

Father-brother killed for opposing cruelty

After this the mob first killed the father of a woman and then her brother. Father-brother had opposed the brutality happening to the woman. That’s why the mob mercilessly killed him. Then all the three women were paraded naked. During this he was molested, raped. 

Four accused arrested so far

What did Chief Minister N. Biren Singh say?

State Chief Minister N. Biren Singh termed the incident as inhuman and said that the culprits should get death penalty. He said that this is a crime against humanity and his government will not remain silent on this heinous crime. Authorities have been directed to launch a massive search operation to nab other criminals involved in the incident. 

Governor gave these instructions

Regarding this incident, Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uike met the DGP of the state on Thursday and directed to arrest all the accused at the earliest and provide security to the victims. Along with this, he asked the DGP that why action was not taken in the police station where the complaint of this incident was lodged. He said that everyone should sit on one platform and put forth their demands, a solution can be found only through dialogue. Nobody benefits from violence. 

PM Modi’s statement

PM Modi said before the commencement of the monsoon session of Parliament that what has happened to the daughters of Manipur. Its culprits can never be forgiven. My heart is full of pain, full of anger. This incident is shameful for any civilized society.

The Prime Minister said that how many are the sinners, who commit the crime, and who are they, they are at their place, but the whole country is being insulted. 140 crore countrymen are feeling ashamed. I want to assure the countrymen that no culprit will be spared. 

Supreme Court gets tough

The CJI further said that I think the time has come for the government to really come forward and take action because this is totally unacceptable. We will give some time to the government to act and if nothing happens at the ground level then we will take action. The court has fixed July 28 for the next hearing on the matter. 

Ruckus in Parliament

There was a lot of uproar in both the houses of the Parliament regarding this incident. The monsoon session of Parliament has started from Thursday itself. Opposition parties have demanded the sacking of Chief Minister N Biren Singh and imposition of President’s rule in the state. A protest march was also taken out in Manipur. 

Caste violence in Manipur

It may be noted that for more than two months, ethnic violence has been going on between the Kuki and Meitai communities in Manipur. In which more than 150 people have lost their lives so far. Hundreds of houses have been burnt and thousands of people have been rendered homeless. Most of these are living in relief camps. The violent clashes began after a tribal solidarity march was organized on May 3 to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
